Cell Analogy Project
Assignment:
1. Choose either a plant cell or animal cell. Next choose something to compare it to. Our
example was a fast food restaurant. This will be your analogy as well as the title of your poster.
Our example “ An animal cell is like a fast food restaurant”.
Check One
__ Animal
__ Plant
“A _____________ cell is like a __________________________”
2. Choose 10 organelles from the list below and continue to explain your selected analogy for
each one. The comparison should match the actual cell part function and make sense within
your analogy. Use the space below to expand your analogy for the organelles you select. Keep
in mind:
● A good poster will have the cell as the central image and its parts that function together
to enable the cell to grow, make energy, dispose of waste, make proteins, etc. The
visuals will help to explain the analogy.
● A good powerpoint will have pictures of both the organelle and the analogy.
●

Finally you will create a poster or a powerpoint that includes:
a. drawings or pictures of the 10 organelles
b. a brief explanation of the actual function of the organelle
c. an explanation of the relationship between the organelle and

a title which shares your analogy with your audience
