The Nervous System By: Ronald, Jesus, Robert, Anthony and Vlad Still functions… • The brain controls how you eat, when you sleep, and everything you do daily. The spinal cord is located in the backbone. The spinal cord sends messages from your body to the brain and the brain sends commands to the nervous system and back to the body. The system and It’s Functions The nervous system is one of the major systems in the human body. It’s job is to control your feelings. The nervous system is consisted of the brain, the spinal cord and the nerves. The Parts and The Jobs The nervous system is made up of nervous tissues that are, in turn, made up of many types of neutrons. There are billions of neutrons connected throughout your body. Your peripheral nervous system has two types of neurons that are constantly at work. Neurons that send impulses from the central nervous system to your limbs and organs are called efferent neurons. Neurons that receive sensory information and transmit to the central nervous system are called afferent neurons. The Diseases and Disorders The nervous system can be damaged by injury and disease. The most common serious problem with the nervous system is a stroke. A person may have a stroke if the blood supply to part of the brain is cut off. Then the nerve cells in that area die. The person then may not be able to do the things that are controlled by the damaged area of the brain. System Importance The Nervous System is important to the body’s survival basically because without it we wouldn’t have any feelings. The nervous system is made up of the brain, the spinal cord and the nerves. The nervous system is your bodies control room. Every nerve impulse is sent there or received there before reaching any other part of the body. Continue This happens because being like a control room for the body the nervous system has to think of the situation and respond to the whole body it’s answer. Extra Information The nervous system is divided into 2 parts. The central part of the nervous system is the brain and the spinal cord. Your peripheral nervous system is made up of the network of neutrons that spans your organs, muscles, the body. Network of specialized tissues that controls actions and reactions of the body and its adjustment to the environment. Continue • The nervous system is the part of an animals body that helps it adjust to changes in its surroundings. Almost all kinds of animals have some kind of nervous system. Resources www.factmaster.com, this was a great website for collecting information on all the systems of the body. www.bodyquest.com, okay site http://kidshealth.org, Teaches you about the body and how to keep your systems healthy The End Thank you for watching our presentation on the Nervous System, we hope you learned something about this system. Thank You
