WHAT IS A LYSOSOME? -Lysosomes are present in almost every animal-like eukaryotic cell. -A lysosome is a single-membrane organelle. -A lysosome is a specialized vesicle that holds various enzymes. -Lysosomes are created when the Endoplasmic Reticulum develops its enzyme proteins, then the Golgi Complex finishes creating its digestive enzymes. -Lysosomes floats in the cytoplasm until they are needed. WHAT IS THE FUNCTION OF THE LYSOSOME? -The Lysosome is like a little digestive system. -The purpose of the lysosome is to digest things, whether it be digesting the cell’s food or breaking down the cell itself when it dies. -The molecules in the Lysosome start working as soon as food gets absorbed by the cell. -The lysosome releases the enzymes inside of it to break down molecules that have protein and complex sugars. -Even if the subject doesn’t consume food, the organelles keep working and digest the organelles of the cell instead. WHAT IS THE NUCLEOLUS? -The Nucleolus is the inside structure of the Nucleus. -The Nucleolus is made up of RNA (RiboNucleic Acid) and protein, -the nucleolus is also referred to as a sub-nuclear body. -The nucleolus contains some of the genes which help with the creation of ribosomal RNA. WHAT IS THE FUNCTION OF THE NUCLEOLUS? -The main function of the nucleolus is to assemble ribosomes. -The nucleolus helps the protein synthesis process by producing the ribosomes.
