 Biotech
students wbat recall the
steps of the Central Dogma while
watching The DNA, The DNA and
Central Dogma videos.
 You
will define the central dogma
vocabulary as a class.
 You will compare DNA and RNA
as a pre- and post assessment
individually.

Why it happens
How it happens



Store and maintain the integrity of the
information from cell to cell or parent to
offspring.
Takes place pre-mitosis and meiosis.
Uses original (parent strand) as a
template to create to new daughter
strands (semi-conservative replication).

Transcription
Why it happens
How it happens


DNA’s message (gene) is expressed
(turned on) by first being transcribed into
RNA (mRNA, tRNA or rRNA)
mRNA=messenger RNA, carries DNA’s
message to be later translated into
proteins with the help of tRNA and the
ribosome.
Why it happens
How it happens

To make a protein (phenotype) the mRNA
is translated with the help of the ribosome
(rRNA) and tRNA (transfer RNA) which
carries amino acids to the mRNARibosome complex.
