1. You are going to create a Keynote presentation that includes all of the structures in the
chart above:
2. You will use the Universal Cell Keynote template (on the wiki) to create a series of slides
that present information about each cell part listed above .
3. IF YOU ARE WORKING BY YOURSELF Type “ALL SLIDES CREATED BY –Your Name- ON THE TITLE
SLIDE
4. IF YOU ARE WORKING WITH A PARTNERa. FIRST- divide up each cell part equally from the chart above so you both know what
part of the work you are responsible for
b. SECOND- Each partner should do their slides separate and be sure to include your
name on each slide NO NAME = NO CREDIT… (note: Credit for 1 slide will only go to
1 person)
i. You will be responsible for knowing all of the organelles so if you are working
with a partner, be prepared to learn them on your own!
5. FOR EACH SLIDE
a. Correctly label the part of the cell.
b. Create a pointer/arrow to show the correct structure on your slide.
c. Correctly describe the function (job) of the cell part –
i. Find out the function (or main job) each structure has in the cell. (use your
class notes – Use the websites from the wiki---do a Google Search, --- check a
glossary.) Remember to put it in your own words - no cutting and pasting. (If
you don’t understand what you’re writing, don’t put it down!)
ii. Determine which category the cell part’s function fits into: Transport
materials, capture/transfer energy, build protein, dispose of waste,
communicate, and move. Either color-code your slides and make a key or
label the category on each of the slides.
iii. REMEMBER TO CITE YOUR SOURCES as you find them!
d. Find an Internet image of an everyday object which has a similar function (or use)
as each cell structure. Write an analogy and type it on the slide to show the
similarity between the cell part and the everyday object. Be sure to explain the
reasoning behind your analogies.
i. For Example (The nucleus is like a brain because it controls and coordinates
the activities of the whole cell in the same way the brain controls and
coordinates activities of the body.)
e. Paste the internet image of the everyday object on the same slide and be sure to
include the work cited URL on or under the picture.
f. Include a works cited as your last page. For this assignment, if you use a web source
you can simply list the web addresses for each source.
