CELL ANALOGY PICTURE BOOK
DUE DATE September 17
2012
PURPOSE: Design a picture book that identifies appropriate, functional
analogies between the cell structures and everyday objects
DIRECTIONS:
 Choose either to do a plant or animal cell
 Draw or sketch the animal or plant cell as the cover of your picture
book. Include a title, your name, subject/period, teacher
 The drawing must include
ANIMAL
PLANT
Nucleus
Nucleus
Nucleolus
Nucleolus
Ribosomes
Ribosomes
Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum
Rough ER
Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum
Smooth ER
Golgi Apparatus
Golgi Apparatus
Lysosomes
Cell Wall
Mitochondria
Mitochondria
Small Vacuoles
Large Central Vacuole
Flagella
Chloroplast
Cilia
Chlorophyll
Cell(plasma)membrane
Cell(plasma) membrane
Cytoskeleton
Cytoskeleton


For each organelle you MUST draw, sketch, or cut out (2) pictures
from magazines, newspaper, or internet pictures of everyday objects
that share similar functions or use of the organelles or cell
structures.
Write an analogy statement to show the similarity between the cell
part and everyday object. Be sure to explain your reasoning for your
analogy.
What is an analogy?
a similarity between like features of two things, on which a comparison may be based
EX. The lysosome is like the stomach because like the stomach, the
lysosome contains enzymes that are used for digestion.
