The Incredible Edible Cell
You are required to construct a model of a plant OR animal cell.
1. All models must be made out of edible materials.
 The food must be able to remain fresh for at least 3 days without refrigeration.
 Avoid using materials that have an unpleasant odor or that may be considered offensive.
2. Each cell model must include all of the following organelles:
 Cell wall (if plant cell)
 Nucleus
 Chloroplasts (if plant cell)
 Vacuoles
 Lysosomes (if animal cell)
 Cytoplasm
 Ribosomes
 Endoplasmic reticulum
 Cell membrane
 Golgi bodies
 Mitochondria
3. Each organelle must be labeled with the name and function.
The Symbolic Cell Project
You are required to create a poster of a plant OR animal cell.
1. The organelles must be represented by a symbol which describes its function.
 For example, a post office for the golgi body since it packages things within the cell and send it to other
parts of the cell.
2. Each cell model must include all of the following organelles:
 Cell wall (if plant cell)
 Nucleus
 Chloroplasts (if plant cell)
 Vacuoles
 Lysosomes (if animal cell)
 Cytoplasm
 Ribosomes
 Endoplasmic reticulum
 Cell membrane
 Golgi bodies
 Mitochondria
3. The cell/function chart must be completed along with the poster.
Organelle Wanted Project
You are required to create a want ad for an organelle. Along with the want ad, you must also include a resume
that the organelle might use to apply for the job.
1. Want Ad
 Your want ad must have 5 or more job requirements included.
 Your want ad must include who should be contacted to inquire about the position.
 Your want ad must include an illustration that coincides with a function or requirement for the job.
2. Your Resume
 Your resume should follow the resume template given to you by Mrs. McNamara
*For this project, you are choosing one organelle.
