Have I titled my poster to show viewers what 2 things are being compared in my analogy?
Have I included a diagram or picture of a plant or animal cell on the center of my poster?
Have I labeled (on the poster) all the organelles from my planner sheet for my type of cell?
Have I made an accurate/meaningful analogy between each part of the cell and the chosen
comparison?
Is each analogy explained in a couple of sentences to thoroughly show my reasoning and
thinking?
Did I include a picture of each analogy comparison specific to each organelle?
Is each analogy comparison somehow “connected” to the organelle in the cell diagram?
Is my poster appropriate for a gallery walk viewing – organized, large sized fonts, colored,
attractive, understandable at a glance?
Cell Analogy Rubric
Cell Analogy Rubric
Assessor
A planner has been completed by each member
and turned in at time of presentation.
A hand-drawn sketch of a cell with correctly
labeled organelles is in the center of the poster
to anchor the comparison.
An analogy for each organelle is explained by
mentioning the function of the cell organelle
and the parallel function of the other item,
showing similarity.
A picture of each comparison has been
included to help viewer understand thinking.
Poster is appropriate for gallery walk viewing –
organized, titled, appropriately sized fonts,
colored, understandable at a glance and
attractive.

Giant Cell INB Page
Giant Cell Self-Assessment
1. Can I accurately convert a measurement given in micrometers to the appropriate size for our
giant cell – ON MY OWN?
2. Have I built a 3-dimensional model of my assigned organelle that is accurately sized in all
dimensions?
3. Does my model show the detailed exterior AND interior structure of my assigned organelle?
4. Do I know how many of my organelles would be present and where they’d be found in the
cell?
5. Have I researched important facts for my presentation by looking at several different
websites/sources?
6. Do I understand the facts I have researched so I am able to explain them in “regular 7th
grade” language for everyone to understand?
7. Am I actively using my model, pointing and showing, during my presentation to increase
understanding?
8. Have I practiced my presentation and adjusted it based on feedback?

Assessor
Planner has been completed and turned in at
the time of the presentation.
Measurement worksheet is completed
accurately and size of organelle is appropriate
for size of the giant cell.
Effort is shown in building a 3-dimensional
model that is realistic in appearance.
Presentation includes important but easy-tounderstand information about organelle,
including number and location in a typical
plant cell.
Model organelle is referenced and used
during the presentation as a way to further
understanding.

Edible Cell INB Page
Edible Cell Self-Assessment
1. Is my cell CLEARLY a plant or animal cell? How do I know? Have I labeled it as such?
2. Did I represent all the organelles on the planning sheet for my type of cell?
3. Did I consult several different pictures of cells to be sure my organelles appear accurately
done?
4. Have I added fine details to improve the accuracy and appearance of my organelles?
5. Are my organelles positioned accurately, based on my research and understanding?
6. Have I represented the size and number of organelles as accurately as possible, based on
my research?
7. Did I label all my organelles correctly?
8. Did I label each organelle’s function correctly?

Assessor
The planner has been completed and turned in
at time of the presentation.
The name of each organelle is clearly and
accurately labeled with a “flag” or some sort of
key system.
The function of each organelle is clearly and
accurately labeled with a “flag” or some sort of
key system.
All materials accurately resemble the size,
number, and location of the actual organelle/s
in the cell.
Overall appearance is neat and easy to
understand, with all edible materials.

Do we have a clear and understandable script?
Does our script focus on the functions of the main organelles of a cell?
Does every member have a copy of the script with highlighted parts to ensure practicing?
Do we have simple costumes or props that help the audience better understand how the
organelle looks or what the organelles function is?
Will the audience be CLEAR about “who (organelle)” each character is and “what (function)”
our actions mean?
Have we practiced our skit to ensure smooth performance?
Have we thought about stage presence and true acting – facing the audience, eye contact,
voices, facial expressions, body language, etc.?
Would other group members say I have participated at a high level by following through on
assigned tasks and using group time wisely?
Cell Skit Rubric
Cell Skit Rubric
Assessor
Planner has been successfully completed by
each group member and handed in at time of
performance.
Script is completely written out, printed and
easy to follow.
All organelle names and functions are
purposefully mentioned and easily identifiable
to the audience within the content of the skit.
Performance is polished – clear voice, loud
volume, stage presence, facial expression, and
body language.
Costumes and props add to understanding of
the cell organelles.
