Cell Folder project general instructions
December 2016
Textbook pages A8-A9.
1. Produce (making or manufacturing from components or materials) (synonyms:
make, construct, build, create, assemble), a plant and animal cell in a folder.
On the inside of the folder produce each cell (one cell per page-ie. inside left,
inside right)
1.1. plant cell has 8 major parts (2 more than animal)
1.2. animal cell has 6 major parts
1.3. Identify and make each part on each cell -below the cell use a key
(legend) to identify and define.
1.4 - Definitions -back page of folder; Write neatly, in straight lines each cell
part represented in your cell project and then define its purpose.
Neatness, creativity, proper print handwriting, accuracy are all graded.
animal cell parts: - nucleus, chromosomes, mitochondria, cell membrane, vacuoles, cytoplasm,
plant cell parts: - nucleus, chromosomes, mitochondria, cell membrane, cell wall, vacuoles, cytoplasm, chloroplasts
Cell Folder Rubric
Name__________________
Plant & Animal (accuracy &
identification)
1 point
Cell parts missing, no
organization of location
and definition (or label)
3points
Most parts are identified by
writing and definition.
Accuracy of location is
attempted.
Most words are spelled
correctly and overall writing is
readable, some letter
formation not accurate.
5 points
Effort of accuracy is evident. All
cell parts are identified and
defined correctly.
Folder is impressive to look at.
All parts: handwriting, straight
lines, key, definitions, object
picked to represent each
organelle work together to
present a well prepared project
Cells are impressive and
interesting to observe.
Materials used for each part
are tied to the key and easy to
identify.
Conventions –Spelling &
handwriting
Many words misspelled,
hard to follow.
Handwriting doesn’t follow
letter formation rules.
Neatness-presentation
Folder is not neat and
organized-
Folder shows some effort in
organizing and producing a
successful project.
Design of cells-material used to
make the cell and each part, color,
key used to identify.
Cells are drawn, however
parts are hard to identify
Design and material of cells
show some effort and thought
in organization and
preparation.
Precision in spelling is evident.
Correct spacing, letter
formation and size are
followed.
