Clarity
The directions were very clear. Short, direct and to the point sentences were used, which
made everything very easy to understand.
Visual Cues could be worked on. I would like to see more organization. I found myself
lost as to what step I was on towards the end. The first two steps are outline very clear,
however, the last step needs to be broken up a little bit more. The first two steps are both
only a paragraph long, while the last step is 4 pages long. Also, is there more to come in
the “screen shot” white space? I can see it being very useful once it is implemented, but
for now, it is distracting.
Succinctness
The writing style is creative enough to keep the audiences attention – saying things such
as; “so you want to create a web photo album?” Which gives a nice informal tone, but it
short and to the point enough to understand the message that is being conveyed.
Scannability
The overall concept of this piece is very good, however, the style varies a great deal
throughout. It starts off very wordy with no screen shots. The third step has very few
words with a lot of screen shots. I think in order to make this flow a little bit nicer, you
should either include more text in the third step, or include less text in the first two steps.
The way that it is divide right now looks like it was put together at two different times, or
perhaps by two different people. Also, it might be helpful to your audience to make
things that need to be clicked on in bold, such as; “Go to commands in the tool bar at the
top of your screen.” Highlighting or italicizing key words makes it easier to read. If you
make the document flow throughout, it will have better scannability.
Technical Notes:
 The first two steps are written in sentence/paragraph form, the last step is just
sentences with no periods at the end, is this deliberately done like this?
 Step 3
“Define the folder you designated to hold your photos (Photoalbum1) as the source
folder”
Observation: “Source Folder” was not an option on my computer. Photo Album Title,
Subheading info, Other info, Source Image Folder, Destination Folder were my
options. I assumed that you meant Source Image Folder, so I browsed and found my
photo album folder, when I clicked OK, I was prompted to enter a Photo Album Title
and a Destination Folder. This was not included in the steps. I think you might need
to be more detailed and not assume that we have any prior knowledge. Also, it would
be a good idea to have sample pictures so that we can have a finished product that
looks just like your finished product. Tell us where to find the pictures, where to save
them to, and how to find them, etc.
 Fireworks did not automatically create thumbnails of my images?
