Cell Brochure/Pamphlet By Ferris Williams Illinois State Standard 12.A.4b- Describe the structures and the organization of cells and tissues that underlie basic life functions including nutrition, respiration, cellular transport, biosynthesis and reproduction. Objective: Create a tri-fold brochure/pamphlet that can be used to help visitors at a museum exhibit learn about the cell, its many parts, and their functions (how they work). The following must be included in your cell booklet. 1. Cover with illustration: Your cover should include the title , an example “The Cell”, your name, and a colorful drawing or picture of a plant and animal cell with their; cell membrane, nucleus, cytoplasm, and cell wall and chloroplast in the plant cell included in the drawing. 2. Parts and functions: Inside your brochure/pamphlet you must include more detailed and labeled drawings of pictures of a least ten (10) cell parts, In addition you must include for each part the function (what they do) and its location in the cell. You should display each cell part, function and location on a separate page. This should be typed in a paragraph form. 3. Parts in the nucleus and cytoplasm: Nucleus Ribosome Nucleolus Golgi body Nuclear membrane Endoplasmic reticulum Vacuole Chloroplast Mitochondrion Centriole 4. You may choose an additional three (3) parts from the list below to add to and complete your project. Lysosome Microfilament/Microtubule Chromosome Leucoplast Chlorophyll 5. Include internet sites/bibliography in the brochure/pamphlet. 6. You may arrange your booklet in any order that you choose, but MAKE SURE IT IS COLORFUL, NEATLY TYPED, AND HAS EACH OF THE SECTIONS TITLED SO THAT EACH SECTION IS CLEAR. 7. Evaluation No Plagiarism!!: Do not copy definitions word –for-word from any book and/or website. Knowledge: Identification and description of the cell parts were complete and accurate, Application: The booklet was well organized, well and included all of the required elements. Communication: The explanations of the cell functions were complete and accurate.
