3-D Cell Model Planning Sheet
1.
2.
3.
Choose either the plant or the animal cell.
Fill out this form completely BEFORE you begin building your model.
 Once complete, take this form to your teacher to look over and initial.
 Do NOT start building your project until this form is complete and your teacher has initialed this form.
 You may change your mind on materials later, but if you do, please change it on your planning sheet as well.
Write a key for all organelle parts

The numbers on this planning sheet will correspond to the numbers you will use on your key.



Attach a number to each organelle using a toothpick or pin or glue.
Staple this key to this form and to your grading rubric
Include a typed or neatly written key that explains:
i. each number
ii. the name of the organelle
iii. the organelle’s function.
4.
5.
Read over the grading rubric BEFORE you start building your project
Gather material to be used for the 3-D model, I recommend NOT buying supplies and instead using recyclable materials around your house, such as
buttons, pasta, string, ribbon, beads, etc..
6.
Construct your 3-D model
7.
Attach a number to each organelle using a toothpick or pin
8.
Due date for 3-D model and key is:
MARCH 24th
I have read all of the instructions above: ______________________________________ (initial)
Mr. Byrd’s initials here that the planning form is complete and you may begin building your project: _______________________ (initial)

Cell 3D Model Grading Sheet
4
The requirement was met exactly as
asked. It was well done; however, it
was done so well it was above and
beyond; this deserves extra credit.
3
The requirement was
met exactly as asked. It
was well done.
2
1
The requirement was met, but
it could have been done
better/neater.
The requirement is there but
is poorly done OR the
requirement is partially there.
3D Cell Model
1
Requirements from Checklist:
All required organelles are included on the model (see list).
2
Each organelle is neatly labeled with a number.
3
The key is typed or neatly written.
4
5
Each number on the key is correctly matched with the organelle on the model (i.e. #4 on
the model is attached to the nuclear membrane so if #4 on the key says ribosomes, then
you know it’s incorrect).
(weight x 3)
The described function of each organelle on the key is correct.
(weight x 3)
6
The grammar and spelling are correct.
7
8
The materials used to represent the organelles were appropriate for each organelle (i.e.
using half a plastic Easter egg to represent the nuclear membrane; wadded up plastic to
represent the nucleus inside the egg; a cotton ball in the middle of the plastic to represent
the nucleolus…those kind of materials work; however, using a toothpick to represent the
nuclear membrane…that doesn’t make sense!) Be flexible on this one! Remember,
recycled items can be a stretch, but they should somewhat fit the organelle.
Overall, your work is neat.
9
Overall, your work is colorful.
10
Overall, your model holds together and is not falling apart; pieces are not falling off of it as
it just sits on the counter.
