Functions of cell membrane
Cell membrane protects the inside of the cell
It controls what things can go in and out of the cell
Absorption-root hair cells
The root hair cell absorbs water and minerals from the soil.
They provide larger surface area which increases the absorption from the soil
Conduction and support-xylem vessels
Xylem vessels conduct water from the root to the entire body of the plant
Xylem vessels provide support because they have thick cell wall made of lignin
Transport of oxygen-red blood cells
Red blood cells transport oxygen
They take oxygen from the lungs and transport it to the rest of the body

Cell, tissue, organ, organ system
Cell is basic unit of structure
Tissue is a group of similar cells
Organ is a structure of different tissues performing a special task
A group of organs working together to perform a task is called organ system
