The Cell: Culminating Task Over the past few weeks, we have been learning about different cell organelles and the functions of these structures. The functions of these organelles can be compared to those of the various parts of a city. For example, the nucleus of the cell could be compared to the city hall. Your assignment is to create a story (can be in the form of a storybook, comic book, graphic novel, or other format that you must confirm with me), that takes place within a “cell city”. You can be creative with your storyline, but you must include the following: A diagram or “blueprint” of your cell city, showing the connections between cell parts and parts of a city (you can simply put the names of the city structures in brackets beside the cell parts of your city diagram) Your city must have a name You need to use all of the parts of the cell in your story. You will need to find ways to incorporate these into your story line. Include the process of osmosis, photosynthesis, cell respiration, or diffusion in your story Be creative! You need to show me in this assignment that you know how the cell works, and what part each of the cell organelles plays in its function You will be marked on the following aspects of your story: i. using all of the cell organelles in your story ii. making a strong connection between the cell organelles and the function of those parts of the city iii. your storyline (creativity) iv. somehow incorporating osmosis, photosynthesis, cell respiration, or diffusion into your story
