When Matt was 18 months old...
Matt has recently become resistant sometimes to your requests for cooperation.
For example, he says "no," or refuses things that he accepted before such as food
or bath time.
A .You recognize Matt needs to have firm limits and insist always that he do what
you ask.
B. You recognize Matt needs to have firm limits, explain that you need his "help,"
and let him decide between two choices (both of which are things you want him to
do!)
C. You realize this is a normal but temporary phase and let Matt have his way most
of the time.
D. You are feeling stressed, and it is an effort to keep regular bath and bedtimes.
So you let Matt have his way until it's absolutely necessary for bath, bed or meal
time, and then you insist on cooperation.

When Matt was 18 months old...
Your partner has started to leave Matt with a sitter for short periods during the
day while your partner works or runs errands. Matt greets the sitter
enthusiastically, but gets upset when your partner leaves. The sitter says that Matt
calms down after your partner leaves. What should your partner do?
A. Nothing as this is normal for a child of Matt's age.
B. Your partner should stay until Matt calms down, even when this makes your
partner late for appointments.
C. Your partner should reassure Matt that it won't be long, and tell him where and
why your partner is going.
D. You decide the babysitter is not skilled enough so you switch to a new one.
