Name! Period! Handout _________ Purpose: Date Cell Diagram: Plant To review cell parts and identify them in an plant cell drawing. Instructions. As you complete this worksheet, follow the instructions to color the diagram. Each part on the diagram is labeled with a letter. The key is at the top of the diagram. Always color the label the same as you color the part. Use pages 23-31 to fill in the blanks. Plant Cells In a typical plant cell we see almost all the same organelles and parts found in animal cells. On the other hand, plant cells contain certain structures not found in animal cells at all. The plant cell membrane is essentially the same as the animal cell membrane. It _______________ what comes into and out of the cell. Fine the cell membrane (A) and color it orange. However, unlike an animal cell, just outside the cell membrane is the cell wall. The cell wall is a ___________ layer of _________________ material that surrounds the cell. It is made of a tough, but flexible material, called ____________. Find the cell wall (B) and color it green. Organelles in the cytoplasm One of the biggest differences inside the cell is the vacuole. Small vacuoles can be found in certain animal cells. However, in plant cells there is usually a large, central vacuole. A vacuole is the ____________ ___________ of the cell. Vacuoles store __________ and other materials by the cell. They can also store __________ products. Most of the plant’s ______________ is stored in vacuoles to keep the plant firm. Without it, the plant would wilt. Find the vacuole (I) and color it light blue. The only other major difference between plant and animal cells is the presence of chloroplasts. These are organelles that capture ___________ from sunlight and use it to produce ____________ for the cell. These give plants their _________ color. Find the chloroplasts (F) and color them green. The remaining organelles are the same as they were in the animal cell. Color them as you did the animal cell (see handout 36). Plant Cell Diagram! Page 1 Name! Period!
