Cell Project Rubric
Your group will sign up for a specific type of cell to research. When you
research, keep in mind that all cells are NOT created equal – there are many
different types of cells that perform many different functions. And in order
to perform those different functions, the cells are of different shapes and
contain different structures. Your group is responsible to highlight those
structures, shapes, and functions that make your cell unique and able to
perform the task it was created to perform.
Each person will complete a different portion of the project (Model, Research
Paper, Slide Show). But you will work together because you are researching
the same type of cell within your group.
Listed here are the scoring rubrics for
each type of project. Each box is a
rating scale worth UP TO the point value
in the parenthesis. Classes are voting on
whether the projects will be (1) orally
presented, or (2) set out on display for
classmates to view.
_____ (50) Model (x6) ______________________
Name of cell (2pts)
 Free standing & 3-D
 Large enough for all parts to be seen
 7+ different organelles/structures
 Cell parts labeled
 Shapes of structures inside your model
resemble actual cell structures
 Model is correct
 Model is neat/attractive
 Model is complete
_____ (50) Report (x5) ______________________
 1 ½ page (minimum)
 Correct formatting (typed, 1.5 spacing, 12
point font)
 General information about this type of cell
 Major function(s) of the cell
 Special structures this cell has or is missing
 Where are these cells found?
 How do the shape of the cell and the
structures in the cell relate to the major
function(s) of the cell?
 Closely related cells or different types
 Free of spelling and grammatical errors
 Sources
