LABORATOIRE DE BIOLOGIE DU DEVELOPPEMENT - UMR 7622 The Laboratory “Biologie du Développement” (UMR 7622, CNRS-University Paris 6), located in downtown Paris, is a basic research facility devoted to developmental biology. Our research objective is to understand how biological molecules interact during embryonic development to generate functional systems at the level of the cell and the organism. It draws from a wide variety of biological models, including drosophila, zebrafish, amphibians, chicken, mice and cultured cells. The laboratory hosts 15 independent research teams that provide a synergistic research environment. Its faculty collaborates with other research laboratories within the University and with neighboring academic institutions (Institut Curie, Institut Pasteur, Ecole Normale Supérieure, Institut Jacques Monod, etc). Research in our laboratory is structured around two main themes: The « Signaling and Cell Determination » Program focuses on the control of cell migration during development, the signaling pathways involved in organization of the embryonic axes, the origin of stem cells, and the determination and differentiation of embryonic cells. The « Reproduction, Development and Cell Cycle » Program focuses on understanding the specific controls of the cell cycle, occurring during early development (meiosis, fertilization, and first embryonic divisions), or orchestrating cell determination (asymmetric divisions at the origin of cell lineages). The main topics actually developed in the Laboratory are outlined in the following Web page : http://bio-dev.snv.jussieu.fr/ The laboratory is inviting applications for the position of a junior group leader (ATIP). Research projects of the new team should be within the scope of our overall scientific program.
