Introduction
The fundamental unit of life is the cell. All living things are made up of cells, and they are considered to be the basic
structural, functional and biological unit of all known living organisms. Cells are the smallest unit of life that can replicate
independently, and are often called the "building blocks of life". There are two types of cells, eukaryotes, which contain a
nucleus, and prokaryotes, which do not. Prokaryotic cells are usually single-celled organisms, while eukaryotic cells can be
either single-celled or part of multicellular organisms.
