Emily Williams 10/25/10 Period 1 A Cell Membrane is like airport security because they both control what materials and substances are allowed into and out of the area. A cell membrane controls what substances can pass through and what wastes can pass out of the cell. It also protects the cell from the outside environment. This is similar to how the security personnel control what people and substances are allowed in and out of the airport or even the country and how they protect the people from outside hazards. The structure is similar as well because airport security has two layers of protection. One of machines screening people and of people checking as well which is similar to the phospholipids double membrane. Phospholipid Head It was cool hanging out with you dude and we LOVE the water Phospholipid Tail No way man the water SUCKED we hate water! Waste Dude it wasn’t cool how you let us get kicked out like that! Are your Phospholipid heads and tails arguing too much? Nutrients Thanks for letting me in Babe I had a great time __________________ 85 Friends See All Mitochondria Cytoskeleton Cell Wall Rough ER Smooth ER Lysosome Need more space? Last seen surrounded by a double layer of Phospholipid molecules. Cell Membrane has been seen in Plant and Animal cells and can be found in both Eukaryotic and Prokaryotic cells. Cell Membrane is not dangerous but is definitely “Wanted” by all cells! Applicants must be formed of a double layer of phospholipid molecules. Individuals wishing to apply for this 24 hour a day, 7 day a week, 365 days a year job must be able to screen materials and allow only necessary items into the cell and wastes and unwanted materials out of the cell.
