Cell Organelle Web Quest Background: Prokaryotic cells (cells without a nucleus) are very simple. The majority of cell jobs occur in the center of the cell with no organization. There are a few areas, but not many that have specific jobs. Prokaryotic cells are bacteria. Eukaryotic cells (cells with a nucleus) have compartments called organelles that have separate jobs. The organelles (compartments) allow the cell to run better because each job has its own place. Eukaryotic cells are either plant or animal cells. Plant cells have some special organelles that animal cells do not. Directions: In this computer activity you will complete two tasks: 1) Research the different organelles, determining in which cell they are present, what they look like, and what job they complete. Fill in the chart below. 2) Use your new knowledge to color and label the pictures of prokaryotic (bacteria) and eukaryotic (plant and animal) cells. 3) This is due at the end of the period Organelle Cell Wall Cell Membrane Cytoplasm Nucleus In a Prokaryotic or If in a Eukaryotic, Picture Eukaryotic Cell?
