Plant and Animal Cell Project
In-class Project
This project is a test grade due on ______________________
Directions:

Make a 3-D model of a plant and animal cell and label all parts
o
Can label with index cards or paper (at least 12 font)
o
Glue labels to parts (organelles) of 3-D model
o
The 3-D model can be made from household supplies and school supplies such as buttons, spaghetti
and/or macaroni noodles, yarn, felt, pencils, etc. (Some supplies will be available in the classroom)
o
Mount 3-D models to paper plates provided by the teacher

On multiple sheets of computer paper,
o
neatly write down each organelle name (listed below)
o
state where it is found (plant and/or animal)
o
draw the individual organelle shape beside the name and state their function/s

(Optional Quiz grade) Lastly, create a short story or song that will incorporate the functions of the organelles
found in plant and animal cells (Do not copy and paste off the web or any other source!!)-Must present to the
class on the due date
Organelles to include: cell wall, cell membrane (plasma membrane), vacuole/s, lysosome, ribosomes, Golgi body (Golgi
apparatus or Golgi complex), cytoplasm, nucleus, nucleolus, nuclear membrane, mitochondria, Smooth endoplasmic
reticulum (Smooth E.R.), Rough endoplasmic reticulum (Rough E.R.), centriole, chloroplast, chlorophyll, chromosomes,
plastid, cilia, flagellum, thylakoid membranes, grana, stroma, microtubules, and microfilaments
Rubric
