Levels of Organization/Cells/Cell Organelle Notes 1. Their are five levels of organization in living organisms beginning with the process going from cells tissue organ organ system organism. 2. Cells are the structural and functional unit of all known living organisms. 3. The Cell Theory states that all living things are made up of cells. 4. The t wo types of cells are: Eukaryote Cells and Prokaryote Cells. Eukaryote Cells are more complex cell with a nucleus and a Prokaryote Cell has no nucleus. Organelles Function Mitochondria Power house of the cell Vacoule (Found only in plants) Stores water which is the food for plants Ribosomes Makes Proteins Lysosomes Digest Materials Nucleus Controls cell activity Cell Wall (Only found in plants) Protection Chloroplast (Only found in plants) uses energy from sun to make food for the plant Cytoplasm Supports and protects cell organelles Organelles Function Endoplasmic Reticulum Carries material throughout the cell
