2. Types of Cells Graphic Organizer
3. Investigating Cells Lab
4. “7.2: Cells, a Look Inside” reading packet
5. Plant and animal cell foldable
6. “Cells, Tissues and Organs” reading
7. “Building a Body” notes
8. “Organization of the Body” cut and paste
9. Notes on neurons and the nervous system
10. Neuron diagram
1. Explain the difference between unicellular and multicellular organisms.
a. Unicellular organisms are made of single cells while multicellular organisms
are made of more than one cell.
2. Characteristics of Plant Cells
a. Shape? What do plant cells look like under a microscope?
i. Plant cells have regular shaped cells (squares or hexagons) with thick
cell walls.
b. Organelles and their functions
i. Plant cells contain cell walls and chloroplasts. Animal cells do not.
3. Characteristics of Animal Cells
a. Shape? What do animal cells look like under a microscope?
i. Animal cells have irregular shaped cells (round).
b. Organelles and their functions
i. Animal cells do not contain cell walls or chloroplasts.

7. How are the organelles of a cell similar to organs in a organism?
a. Nucleus compares to which organ? Why?
i. THINK ABOUT HOW THE NUCLEUS CONTROLS THE CELL!
b. Cell membrane compares to which organ? Why?
i. THINK ABOUT HOW THE CELL MEMBRANE COMPARES TO THE
HUMAN BODY!
c. Mitochondria compares to which organ? Why?
i. THINK ABOUT HOW THE MITOCHONDRIA COMPARES TO THE
HUMAN BODY!
8. What is the difference between a stimulus and a response in the nervous system?
a. Stimulus is what the organism experiences. Response is the reaction by the
organism to the stimulus.
9. How does a message flow through a nerve cell?
a. Messages are received in the dendrites, go to the cell body for processing,
then are sent along the axon to be converted to neurotransmitters. These
neurotransmitters are then received by the dendrites of another cell and the
message is sent on.
10. Why are sensory receptors important?
a. Sensory receptors receive information about your outside environment in
order to determine your surroundings.
11. What happens to your other senses when one of your senses is eliminated?
a. Other senses increase sensitivity to compensate for the loss of one sense.
12. How do your memories affect the way you react to a situation?
a. Memories serve as reminders of the time and place the memory was
created.
13. How would your memory of a situation change if did not have one of your
senses, such as hearing or taste?
a. You would remember the other senses that recorded the event.
