Gene Regulation
Some genes are regulated (turned off and on) by
repressor proteins While others use proteins that
enhance the rate of transcription.
Operons are generally not found in Eukaryotes.
Gene regulation is controlled individually and have
regulatory sequences that are much more complex
that those of the lac operon.
TATA box is found in Eukaryotic genes. It helps
position RNA polymerase to begin transcription of
the DNA. The promoter is found just before the
TATA box.
Cell Specialization. Multicellular organism carry the
complete genetic code in their nucleus but only a tiny
fraction of the available genes needs to be expressed
in cells of different tissues in the body.
HOX Genes tells the cells of the body which organs
and structures they should develop as the body
grows.
