Cell Scavenger Hunt Instructions: Follow the clues to find the following organelles in order to determine the secret code. Scan the QR code beside each organelle and put the word in the box beside the clue. Use the capital letters from each word to determine the secret biology term  Clues 1. This organelle has a double membrane and is responsible for cellular respiration. People often mistakenly think it is only in animal cells but it is actually in both plant AND animal cells. 2. This organelle is found in high amounts in carnivorous organisms because it contains enzymes that can break down proteins. It is found more often in animal cells than plant cells. 3. This organelle is found in both plant and animal cells but is much, much larger in plants. 4. This organelle is not only made up of proteins but its function is to make proteins. It can be floating in the cytoplasm or attached to the endoplasmic reticulum. 5. This organelle is found in high quantities in leaf cells but is rarely found in root or bark cells of plants. 6. This organelle is sometimes referred to as the packaging center of the cell. It accepts vesicles from the ER containing proteins, modifies the proteins then repackages them into new vesicles for transport. 7. This organelle has its own double layer membrane surrounding it as the most important information within a cell is stored here. 8. The role of this organelle is to transport materials around the cell. It can fuse with the membranes of other organelles 9. This organelle is found in high amounts in liver cells (the liver is an organ responsible for breaking down food and detoxifying the blood). 10. This organelle is often described as semi‐permeable It is found in both plant and animal cells. Words This is an organelle, similar to a lysosome, containing enzymes that are involved with metabolism: ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___
