OriGene Technologies launches over 5,000 heavy isotope labeled full-length human
proteins as quantitative internal standards for SRM/MRM Mass spectrometry
Rockville, MD – June 3, 2010 – OriGene Technologies, Inc., a leading gene-centric life sciences
company, has announced the first of its kind launch of over 5,000 heavy isotope labeled human
proteins as internal standards for SRM/MRM (single reaction monitoring, multiple reaction
monitoring) mass spectrometry analyses. The announcement was made at the 2010 American
Society for Mass Spectrometry conference in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Mass spectrometry, especially MRM, has emerged as a new platform for quantitative
characterization of multiple proteins, thus making it an ideal choice for high throughput
proteomics and clinical biomarker research. A critical bottleneck in SRM/MRM application is
the lack of quantitative internal standards for all protein targets. With the newly released 5,000
heavy isotope labeled protein standards, researchers can simply mix the standards with their
samples and perform protein quantification without the need of expensive and time-consuming
peptide synthesis. Compared to heavy labeled AQUA peptides, heavy labeled full-length
proteins can be spiked at earlier stage of sample preparation and would allow more accurate
targeted protein quantitation over complete analysis process, from sample extraction,
fractionation, HPLC, and MS analysis. In addition to the initial 5,000 labeled human full-length
protein standards, OriGene plans to add to its mass spectrometry offering of custom protein
labeling, labeled transfected lysates, and eventually labeled peptide standards for all human
proteins.
About OriGene Technologies
OriGene Technologies, Inc., is a gene centric life sciences company dedicated to support
academic, pharmaceutical and biotech companies in their research of gene functions and drug
discovery. OriGene develops proteins, antibodies, and other molecular tools to allow researchers
to analyze their data on a multiplex level. OriGene's novel product line includes the world's
largest cDNA and shRNA clone collections, over 5,000 purified human proteins, high quality
monoclonal antibodies (TrueMAB™), 100,000 highly validated human tissues, and protein
microarray products and services. OriGene also provides a broad range of antibody validation
products including genome-wide tagged antigen standards and extensive IHC slides derived from
our tissue collection. For more information, visit www.origene.com.
