Punnett Squares: Drag and Drop Monohybrid Crosses Name:_________________ Date:________ Period:____ Standards: BI3. a. Students know how to predict the probable outcome of phenotypes in a genetic cross from the genotypes of the parents and mode of inheritance (autosomal or X-linked, dominant or recessive). BI3. b. Students know the genetic basis for Mendel’s laws of segregation and independent assortment. Objectives: SWBAT… Explain the genetic factors that influence the way we look. Recognize that DNA contains the genetic information that determines the way we look. Explain and describe how genetic information is passed from parents to offspring. Predict the physical characteristics of an organism based on its genetic make up. Directions: Open the following link: http://www.zerobio.com/drag_gr11/mono.htm Drag genes from the left side of the table into the top right box to create the genetic cross. Place the genes on both sides of the "x" symbol. Check your work. From the remaining genes, drag genes into the middle box to make the Punnett square. There should be no genes left over. Check your work. Solve the questions in the bottom box. For percent answers, include the percent sign with no space after the numbers (ie.75%). For word answers, use all small letters (ie. yes). Capture a screenshot of your correctly completed Punnett Square and insert it in the table below. Table 1. Completed Punnett Square
