Prague and Brno, Czech Republic – 20-23 Nov
Festival Alpinismu Setkani 2009. In Prague, the Capital of Czech Republic, Apa and Dawa will
address a gathering of 2000 mountaineers including veteran mountaineers like Reinhold
Messner and the Mayor of Prague. They will appeal to their fellow alpinists to support this
cause and join hands with the Himalayan people to raise awareness about this issue.
Bratislava, Slovak Republic – 24 Nov
In Bratislava, Apa and Dawa will again meet with various media personnel and be part of
events and exhibitions involving the Mayors of both Prague and Bratislava.
London, United Kingdom- 25 Nov
‘The Here and Now of Climate Change in the Himalayas’ programme where Apa and Dawa
will make a presentation, display their video and be part of a photo exhibition all catering to
an audience including Members of Parliament, senior civil servants plus other parties with an
interest either in climate change and / or Nepal. The programme is organized by WWF UK
office and Embassy of Nepal.
Viterbo, Italy- 26-29 Nov
Greenaccord VII international Media Forum on the Protection of Nature "Climate is Changing:
stories, facts and people". Apa and Dawa as WWF Climate Witnesses will be part of this
massive forum with journalists from around the world and will share their stories on the
Himalayan climate change front.
Geneva, Switzerland - 30 Nov – 1 Dec
The duo will be part of several media engagements in Switzerland. They will also be
felicitated by Jim Leape, Director General WWF International with the Leaders of a Living
Planet Award.
Chamonix, France - 2 Dec
WWF France and WWF International will organize an interaction programme with Apa and
Dawa inviting representatives from politics, civil society and media and focusing on the
impacts of Climate Change in the mountainous regions.
Vienna, Austria- 3 Dec
A formal programme organized by WWF Austria where the duo will meet with Austrian
Federal President (TBC) and Minister of Environment and several media personnel.
Brussels, Belgium – 5 Dec
Dawa and Apa will be part of WWF’s Climate Express – Train to Copenhagen, a 12-hr rolling
conference starting from Brussels and then via Cologne and Hamburg on to Copenhagen.
Copenhagen, Denmark- 7-12 Dec
World renowned mountaineers and public figures who love the Himalayas will come together
in Copenhagen to raise awareness of climate risks and opportunities in the Himalayas. A
street carnival in the streets of Copenhagen will see hundreds of summiteers and friends of
Nepal raising their voice for the Himalayas.
Climate for Life is a global campaign to draw attention to impacts of climate change in the Himalayas.
