Job Description Marketing and Sales Officer Maternity Cover – up to 12 month fixed term contract August 2014 Introduction The aim of this role is to maximise profits through developing and implementing marketing and sales strategies that match our customer’s (both internal and external) requirements and promote the breadth products, services or ideas provided by Christian Education and all its trading arms. The purpose is to manage the marketing function in this charitable enterprise, co-ordinating the database and marketing systems, providing the technical ground work, enthusing the staff team and developing an integrated marketing strategy that will enable us to improve sales revenues and expand into new products and markets Salary: £19,000 - £23,000 Accountability Through the PR and Digital Communications Manager to the Chief Executive Officer Tasks and Responsibilities planning and executing promotional campaigns for products and services in the educational and church sector leading a regular (bi-monthly) meeting to co-ordinate marketing across the enterprise ensuring that staff colleagues and our markets are well informed about new products and services identifying new marketing and communication channels to grow the subscription business of REtoday magazine, International Bible Reading Association (IBRA) and the associated National Association of RE Teachers (NATRE) membership scheme selling advertising in the REtoday magazine, meeting targets and managing invoicing and placement process. working to support the development and implementation of fresh marketing strategies for each annual edition of the IBRA bible reading notes Fresh From the Word (FFtW) working pro-actively with the Publishing Team Leader, designers and external agencies on promotional materials working with the Membership Officer and Office Manager to coordinate direct mail campaigns and monitor responses to maximise effectiveness identifying new marketing and communication channels to grow the subscription business of REtoday magazine, International Bible Reading Association (IBRA) and the associated National Association of Teachers of Religious Education (NATRE) membership scheme taking responsibility for specific campaigns as agreed with the CEO working with the client facing Schools RE Advisers to maintain and develop the reputation of our services and extend our marketing reach developing promotional opportunities and ideas; taking them from conception through to delivery. reporting on campaigns to ensure effective internal marketing communications. Writing and providing accurate and creative copy 1|Page assisting in the development of reports and presentations; developing and maintaining documents, electronic spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations; collecting and collating data, managing information with in database and/or lists; and conducting research via the Internet, telephone and other means. performing a variety of administrative tasks which may include using discretion when handling highly sensitive information, drafting and proofreading correspondence, and preparing minutes from meetings. ensuring that key documents are of the highest quality preparing, planning and project managing the mailings associated with our REtoday magazine subscriptions, CE catalogue, IBRA, FFtW readers and NATRE Membership scheme creating marketing campaigns and working with the internal team to ensure they are executed successful creating and developing new innovative ways to communicate our different messages to our existing and potential customers contributing to the annual sales and marketing plan planning and project managing marketing events and evaluating their success supporting the rest of the team in day to day marketing activities Additional tasks as may be required from time to time, by the Chief Executive Officer, consistent with the skills and competencies required for the tasks outlined above. Person Specification Essential 2 years marketing and sales experience Knowledge of CRM databases and reporting Excellent communication skills – provides clear, concise written/verbal communications appropriate to the audience. Excellent copywriting skills – ability to rework information for a broader audience. Highly organised - recording progress and balancing work on a variety of tasks to be undertaken in the same period Proven project management skills – the ability to take projects from concept to completion Self-motivated – ability to lead on and manage campaigns and projects with minimum of supervision Excellent MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel skills Proven excellent customer relationship management skills Experience of working with databases for marketing research, working with data and producing reports and information to influence business and marketing decisions. Positive ‘can do’ attitude / Adaptable Desirable First degree (e.g. BA; BSc) Marketing qualification Results driven – strives to make a difference; enjoys a challenge and working under pressure to achieve the objective.
