About our Hosts
With approximately 400 new fulltime students across the different programs, the
Graduate School of Communication at the University of Amsterdam is among the
larger graduate schools in Communication in Europe and the world.
The Graduate School offers four programs in Communication Science:
• 2-year Research Master Communication Science
• 1-year Master’s program in Communication Science with 4 different
specializations: Corporate Communication; Persuasive Communication;
Political Communication; Youth and Media Entertainment
• 2-year Erasmus Mundus Master’s Program Journalism, Media and
Globalization that is offered in collaboration with the University of Arhus,
University of Hamburg, City University London, and the University of
Swansea.
• PhD Training Program for PhD students in Communication Science in
collaboration with ASCoR.

The Amsterdam School of Communication Research ASCoR is the research
institute in Communication Science at the University of Amsterdam. ASCoR is the
largest institute of its kind in Europe and one of the largest Communication
Science research institutes worldwide. More than 50 senior researchers are
permanently associated with ASCoR, and its English language PhD program hosts
more than 35 students. ASCoR is organized in four research program groups:
• Corporate Communication
• Persuasive Communication
• Political Communication & Journalism
• Youth & Media Entertainment
Many ASCoR researchers have received prestigious NWO and EU research
grants, including Veni, Vidi and Vici grants, a Spinoza grant and an ERC
Advanced Investigator grant. In 2013, ASCoR researchers published 2.70
academic publications per fte on average, 80% in ISI-ranked journals. More
