Comment
To prevent unspecific binding of the probe to the membrane in Southern- and Northern-Hybridisations salmon
sperm DNA is added to the pre-hybridisation solution (Blotto, Denhardt's etc.). The lyophilised DNA ist dissolved in
sterile bidistilled water (stock solution e. g. 10 mg/ml) and stored at -20°C (1). This DNA is used with a final
concentration of 100 μg/ml.
This product Salmon sperm DNA (code A2160) is not sonicated. Salmon sperm DNA might be sonicated and
extracted with phenol : chloroform. As an alternative, we also offer already sonicated Salmon sperm DNA, please
see product code A2159.
