Currently
2009 - 2012
2004 - 2008
Ph.D. Candidate, Atmospheric Sciences, University of Washington, Seattle
M.S., Atmospheric Sciences, University of Washington, Seattle
B.S. with honors, Physics and Astronomy, Union College
Experience:
University of Washington, Seattle, WA
August 2009 - Present
Graduate Student, Department of Atmospheric Sciences
Interest in science problems dealing with atmospheric structure and change under anthropogenic climate change,
reconciling microwave sounding unit and global circulation models, food security and climate change, cloud
parameterization in climate models, and climate sensitivity. Devoted to public outreach and making my research
applicable to human interests and policy.
Partners in Health, Neno, Malawi
September 2013 - September 2014
Medical Informatics Advisor
Act as an advisor to the Medical Informatics team in Boston and in Malawi. Responsibilities include managing electronic
medical records (EMR) infrastructure, improving data quality and use of EMR data by clinical team, strategic planning for
the EMR system, and working with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Quality division on data analysis that leads to
improvements in health care.
Engeye, Inc., USA
January 2010 - March 2013
Secretary, Board of Directors
Engeye, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit that operates as an NGO in Uganda, providing basic health care out of the Engeye
Health Clinic. The organization also supports students and schools through Engeye Scholars. As part of the board I have
helped organize long-term planning meetings, funding strategies, and have overseen technical projects and
collaborations with Engineers Without Borders. As secretary I help organize the organization’s communications. Major
contributions have included website design and implementation, overseeing our annual reports and newsletters, and
recent work to help revitalize our fundraising strategies.
Engeye, Inc., Ddegeya, Uganda
July 2008 - June 2009
Union College, Schenectady, NY
Minerva Fellow
Worked as a community development volunteer in Ddegeya, Uganda. Returned to Union College in May 2009 and served
as a guest lecturer for classes pertaining to economics, development, environmental studies, and social
entrepreneurship. I helped develop a morning education program for students who did not have enough money to pay for
school fees; the program has operated continuously since 2008. I also served as a teacher in a local primary and
secondary school. Worked on a number of technical projects including expanding the photovoltaic power infrastructure.
