NANSA Communications, Marketing and Campaigns Officer Job Description and Specification Date: April 2017 Overview of Role This is both an internal and external-facing role within NANSA, developing, implementing and managing an array of internal and external communications activities, marketing NANSA services and its retail, trading and training activities and leading on the development of campaigns that raise awareness about key issues facing people with disabilities and result in action to remove barriers to their empowerment and achievement of life goals. It requires: strong organisational, communication and excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to identify critical communication and marketing opportunities and key decision makers; proven skills in creating opportunities and managing relationships with key people and organisations to secure long-term support and achieve organisational goals. The Communications, Marketing and Campaigns Officer is a major ambassador for NANSA, able to work with people across all sectors and at all levels to generate income and strengthen support for the charity and its work across Norfolk. Working hours: Work Location: Salary Scale: 35 hrs per week including occasional evenings and weekends Level 19, £19,656 per annum Responsible to: Head of Funding and Marketing Staffing Responsibilities: Approx. Budget: None Asset Responsibilities: Safeguarding Role & Level: No direct support for service users, but working in an environment where regular contact. Level 2 Key Customers: Norwich, but expected to travel as needed CEO, Heads of Department, Trustees, and charity stakeholders None, but works closely with a team of volunteers None Specific Issues Relating to This Job: The nature of marketing, media and fundraising events and relationship management requires the Communication, Marketing and Fundraising Officer to work occasional evenings and weekends as required. Frequent, in-depth, positive media coverage across different media platforms about the work of NANSA, how people with disabilities define empowerment and what barriers they seek to break through 2. Increases in the number and range of community and corporate supporters, evidenced through the rise in social media interactions, mailing list memberships, in-kind contributions and cash donations 3. Evidence that marketing activities have a positive impact on trading, training and retail income and increase referrals to adult, youth and family services 4. At least one successful, large scale awareness raising campaign per year, highlighting a particular need or championing a specific cause that empowers people with disabilities in Norfolk 5. Evidence that marketing and fundraising codes of practice and relevant legislation are fully complied with, including development, management and active use of internal data and information management systems Support development and delivery of the NANSA Communication, Marketing and Campaigns Strategy, with a particular focus on promoting, trading, training and marketing, and achieving awareness raising goals and high Return On Investment (ROI) Develop and implement branding, marketing and communication policies and guidelines, ensuring compliance with national and best practice guidance & relevant legislation Lead on development and delivery of all internal and external communications and marketing activity Develop widespread and effective external networks of contacts to be able to conduct effective campaigns, marketing and external communications activity Liaise closely with and market to a range of partner organisations, especially those working in the disability field Develop the systems and processes needed to achieve all goals related to the post and comply with all legal requirements Lead on securing sponsorship for organised events and delivering successful PR and marketing initiatives Build excellent relationships with departments, service users and their families, and wider Relevant skills, knowledge and experience (E = essential, D = desirable) Proven experience of effective communication, marketing and campaigns activity (E) Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal (E) Positive, engaging approach and strong interpersonal skills and with ability and confidence to deal with people at all levels ( E ) Ability to plan, manage time and prioritise own workload with minimum supervision as well as the ability to work under pressure (E) Experience of presenting successfully to large audiences, speaking publicly & dealing with the media (E) Skills and experience of using all aspects of social media, related technical knowhow and sophisticated understanding of its application (E) High standard of computer literacy including Microsoft packages, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, plus databases and website administration (E) Nationally recognised marketing qualification (D) Experience of motivating and managing volunteers (D) stakeholders to understand communication needs and preferences and ensure all communication, marketing and campaign activity accounts for these Act as an ambassador for NANSA, representing the charity at internal and external events and with the media Devise, co-ordinate and deliver an annual events and campaign programme to raise awareness of NANSA Be aware of events being planned by other local, regional and national organisations, ensure that relevant NANSA staff are likewise aware and arrange attendance at these events at whatever level and degree appropriate Work with other team members to plan and deliver exceptional social media campaigns and communication functions Other duties as deemed appropriate to the role as determined by the Head of Funding and Marketing Passion for developing knowledge and skills independently (D) Experience of and commitment to empowerment and inclusion (D)
