Fur color in Labrador Retrievers: A Polygenic trait with Epistasis
There are two genes and two alleles for each gene
Gene 1:
B = Black coat (dominant)
b = Brown coat (recessive)
Gene 2:
T = Add pigment to fur (Dominant)
t = Do not add pigment to fur (Recessive, yellow)
Mate two retrievers with these genotypes:
Male BbTt x Female Bbtt
What are the possible types of gametes each parent can produce?
How many puppies?
Why are there only 8 boxes?
How many black retriever puppies?
How many brown retriever puppies?
How many yellow retriever puppies?
What is the probability of having a black retriever puppy?
What is the probability of having a brown retriever puppy?
What is the probability of having a yellow retriever puppy?
Plant stem length and leaf arrangement (No Epistasis)
There are two genes and two alleles for each gene
Gene 1:
A = Long stem (dominant)
a = Short stem (recessive)
Gene 2:
B = Leaves Alternate (dominant)
b = Leaves Opposite (recessive)
Mate two plants with these genotypes:
Male AaBb x Female AaBb
What are the possible types of gametes each parent can produce?
How many seedlings?
How many Long with leaves Alternate?
How many Long with leaves Opposite?
How many Short with leaves Alternate?
How many Short with leaves Opposite?
What is the probability of being Long with leaves Alternate?
What is the probability of being Long with leaves Opposite?
What is the probability of being Short with leaves Alternate?
What is the probability of being Short with leaves Opposite?
