Natural Selection Research
Your goal is to develop a clearer understanding of how evolution
works through further study of the process of Natural Selection. This will
support one of the major goals of Chapter 6, “Students should be able to
explain the underlying biological mechanisms of evolution.”
Choose one (or more) of the following to complete your research:
1. Re-read pages 311-314 in your test
2. Read the “Natural Selection” article
3. Play the Darwin’s Evolution Game

a. Read Natural selection and continue to click “Next” through
Misconceptions about Natural Selection (take notes, draw
sketches of the process, state examples)

After you have completed your research choose one of the following to
express your understanding:
1. Write a paragraph to explain the process of evolution by Natural
Selection using the following terms: adaptation, population, species,
selective pressure, variation, fitness/survival of the fittest.
2. Draw the process (graphic novelist, comic book) of evolution by Natural
Selection. Include captions that explain each drawing using all the
terms from #1.
3. Create a power point presentation that explains the process of
evolution by Natural Selection (use graphics, diagrams, and all the
terms from #1).
4. Create a poster or pamphlet to explain the process of evolution by
Natural Selection (make it visually appealing with graphics, diagrams,
pictures, etc. Also include all the terms from #1)
