SUMMARY: Directs all marketing, public relations and communications projects that support
NFAIS programs and services. Responsible for marketing strategy, communications, and branding
for the association; oversight of development and maintenance of association’s website,
newsletter, blogs, and other electronic communications technology; oversight of social media
activities; handling and coordinating media relations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES (included but not limited to):
 Oversee and manage NFAIS Website, including SEO
 Oversee and manage bi-weekly newsletter
 Develop marketing strategies and oversee implementation
 Oversee and manage social media presence, including SMO
 Write and oversee monthly press releases
 Oversee and manage market research activities
 Serve as liaison to Marketing Committee
 Promote attendance at Annual Conference, Workshops, Webinars and other educational
events
 Oversee and manage Annual Conference brochure, signage and printed onsite program
 Promote membership and member programs and services
 Solicit and oversee sponsorships for Annual Conference and Humanities Roundtable
 Travel to programs, meeting and projects as necessary and assigned
 Manage expenses and projects as necessary, and complete assignments within established
budget guidelines and project deadlines
 Coordinate with Director Professional Development and Executive Director as required
 Assist in answering telephone and customer inquires
 Handle media calls
 Manage department files and supplies
 Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years prior work experience in marketing and public
relations. Knowledgeable of social media marketing. Demonstrated experience working with
volunteer leadership. Prior association experience desirable, as well as knowledge of information
services industry (database producers, primary publishers, information aggregators, libraries, etc.).
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Strong written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills,
including the ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment; ability to use basic office equipment
such as telephones, copiers, fax machines and computers.
REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, public relations,
English, or related field.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in employer’s office, with ability to telecommute as
necessary. Attendance at Annual Conference is mandatory, where work is performed at the
location of the event. Must be able to travel overnight via train or airplane within continental U.S.
Some moderate lifting (up to 70 lbs) may be required on an occasional basis.
