Objective:
Provide support and leadership for strategy development, planning, coordination and execution of
activities of the Marketing Division to build overnight attendance and grow/maintain the economic impact
of the tourism industry in Horry & Georgetown counties, collectively. Balance the needs of consumers
and stakeholders, and proactively support the development of the CVB’s media plan.
Essential Functions:
Coordinate and administer the marketing plan in collaboration with marketing staff, industry
stakeholders, local governments, SCPRT and marketing partners. Ensure stakeholder involvement
is optimized. Use market research and objective measurements as basis for recommendations.
Evaluate media opportunities and manage selection and procurement process. Facilitate
communications with media representatives to ensure efficient operations and continuous
improvement towards the organization’s overall media and promotions objectives.
Oversee and administer creative development and production for advertising, promotion and
publicity, including, but not limited to: print, photography, video, audio, presentations and web
elements. Must ensure that all material due dates are adhered to and the ongoing process
streamlined to maximize efficiencies. Operate as traffic manager.
Coordinate and manage video/photo production efforts to include: site selection, talent selection,
workflow and scheduling, logistics, permitting, procurement and processing.
Coordinate and write applications and all related documentation for various promotional grants to
ensure optimization of financial receipts and total compliance with regulations, guidelines, and state
laws.
Develop marketing communications (copy/scripts) across various media channels.
Coordinate and oversee project work - both internal and through contracted vendors.
Manage and administer marketing division budget – specifically accounting for and tracking all
media expenditures and applicable processing with tear-sheets for report submission, including
Group Sales media placements.
Serve as staff liaison for various marketing committees, task forces and industry meetings.
Provide marketing support to other divisions and departments, as necessary.
Responsible for setting meeting schedules, managing correspondence and recording of minutes for
Marketing Council and Advertising & Publicity Committee.
Ensure all public funds are used only in accordance with existing guidelines and that all necessary
reporting to public agencies or entities is submitted in full and on time on an ongoing basis.
Maintain news files for Communications Division and Research Department.
Reconcile and process invoices for all media placements for Marketing and Convention Bureau on a
monthly basis.
Manage and administer all facets of the commerce center.

Reports to EVP Finance
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Minimum of five years experience in a position with similar responsibilities, including management of
public relations, publications, or advertising. Two years or more of managing a Destination
Marketing Organization (DMO) advertising campaign is preferred. The ideal candidate is
experienced in marketing a travel destination with proven success in growing overnight visitation
using multiple media strategies.
Experience in brand-building and implementing advertising that drives measurable results. The ideal
candidate has proven experience in supporting and managing integrated marketing tactics with a
strong emphasis on digital distribution.
Experience in developing and optimizing web-based marketing including website performance.
Prefer experience with travel-industry websites. The ideal candidate has proven experience in
leading the development and maintenance of a destination website that effectively serves both new
visitors and repeat visitors, while delivering measurable impact to industry stakeholders.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental personnel, a
volunteer board of directors and a wide variety of businesses and individuals within the local tourism
industry.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various industry partners and
purveyors.
Skilled in presenting clear and comprehensive oral and written reports.
Supervise and evaluate the work of others.
Extensive knowledge of various media sources, including purchasing and creative development.
Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience required.
Experience working within an organization governed by a volunteer board.
Effective at operating effectively in fast paced environment.
Skilled at multitasking with proven ability to prioritize tasks based on importance & relevance.
Normal working hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Working hours may vary
depending on the needs of the marketing department and/or the organization.
