(FINAL RESEARCH)
Abstract
In this research, survey questions were provided to some of my department’s employee in order
to clarify how global warming is dangerous which caused by humans activities and behaviors.
Researchers’ reports were used too to clarify some point of the humans’ behaviors with planet.
The survey was used to check the people awareness level with the global warning problems and
effects on humans. However, the others researches and reports were used to the link between the
humans activities and the global warming facts in order to clarify that the sources causes.
All facts show that it caused by humans’ activities and it can be prevented by changing their
behavior. It will be worse more if people didn’t change their activities way. On other hand,
people are making their lives and the other generations lives in risk unless the change their ways.
A lot of our activities are affecting our earth and us at the same time. In another word, affecting
the environment means affecting our selves. Therefore, if global warming is very dangerous to
our natural and earth because of our activities, then yes we are making our lives in danger.
Introduction
Human being has been trying to advance and change their live stiles from the being of time.
However, these advances and new burn technologies were taking from earth and in return they
are affecting the health of our planet and these effects will reach us in many different ways soon
or later.
All researches topics done by students or scientist today should study the cases and the effects
done by Human being to their surroundings to minimize the disadvantages and maximize the
advantages threw our lives. For this reason I choose the topic which offers research study on our
earth and the effects human have on it. And while all humans are parts of this earth and can’t
exist in any other planets, I became more interested in my big home which is earth and how to
help in saving and protecting it from any threats which can reach us in return.
On the other way, does global warming something to worry about? And is global warming
something dangerous to earth that we should look into it and respond to the main causes?
Actually, global warming is one of the most important subjects discussed in these days. As I
define it, simply it is an increase in earth’s temperature due to an increase in the amount of the
carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. As its real definition, it is the phenomenon of high
temperature in the environment as a result of a change in flow thermal energy from the
environment. Usually, they called this name to the phenomenon of global warming when it
changes from its normal average (YeSeul Kim, Erika Granger, Katie Puckett, Cankutan Hasar,
and Leif Francel, 2010).
The purpose of my research is to clarify that all effects done to earth by us will come back to us
in return. As studies show that the main causes of the global warming are human activities. So, a
lot of our acts are affecting our earth and us at the same time. Therefore, If global warming is
very dangerous to our natural and earth because of our activities, then we are making our lives in
danger.
Scientists start to spend a lot of money and time in order to understand it more and to see the real
effect of it. In the first half of the 19th century, scientists thought that global warming occurs
because of the normal natural climate cycle. However, in the second half of the 19th century they
start to realize that the climate changes in our earth is not caused by natural and it was caused by
humans themselves. Scientists made a lot of studies and a lot of measurements to track the
changes in our climate, and they found that in the past 100 years climate changes have sharply
increased especially in the past 30 years (Spencer Weart & American Institute of Physics, 2011).
According to the International Committee for Climate Change (IPCC), most of the observed
increase in global average temperature since the mid-twentieth century seems largely due to the
increase of greenhouse gases emitted by activities carried out by humans. Studies such as
International Committee for Climate Change (IPCC) shows that there has increased in the global
average air temperature at the earth's surface by 0.74 ± 0.18 ° C during the last 100 years till
ended of 2005(Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, 2010).
Body
First of all, starting from the survey that has been provided by me which starts with a question of
“How worried are you about global warming? “, 81.5% of them show that they are very worried
about it. That shows that most of us have clear background of the issue with some concerned of
the humans’ activities which will definitely result negatively on us and our environment. In these
days global warming is very important subject for all of us.
In fact, I have stated in my survey a question to see how global warming is important for them
personally. Many of them see that it is very important subject. On the other hand, researches
show that “global warming is gradually changes in our climate negatively which will affect our
planet including humans, animals and plants” (National Geography, 2011).
Do you think that global warming is happening? This was one of the questions that has been
provided in my survey. Most of them agree that it is happening. However, A lot of things
approves that global warming is happening. As stated by (AMS Council, 1012) that “Greenhouse
effect, sea level change and climate change are the three major things that affected by global
warming and they are making a lot of changing in our earth”. For example, when humans release
tons of carbon dioxide and other gases in the atmosphere, these gases make a layer in the
atmosphere which prevents the waves of the sun to cross out the earth. When the greenhouse
effect happens and the waves of the sun can cross-in and cannot cross-out the earth’s temperature
will increase and changes the climate of the earth. In this point things will negatively change
gradually causing the sea level increase.
In fact, these changes couldn’t be caused by natural or by the natural cycle, there should be a
reason behind these changes in our earth. Unfortunately, the main reason is behind our activities.
According to NASA’s studies “the average temperatures in our planet have risen around1.4 F
degree (0.8 C degree) since the 18th century” (STWR, 2011).
If most of us agree that global warming is happening with the facts, then who is/are causing it.
When I asked in my survey “do think global warming caused by humans, natural or both”, the
answers show different thoughts in this point. Many of them see that it is caused by humans.
However, some of them see that it is caused by both humans and natural.
Actually, at this point studies approve that it caused by human’s activities, but not all human
activities kinds affect our earth. However, there are some types of activities that cause global
warming. One of these types is the emission of the carbon dioxide. Many of electrical industrial
factories overall the world are burning enormous amount of coal in order to produce electricity,
which make them to release a big amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. As shows by
(Planetsave , 2009) that Studies show that 40% of the carbon dioxide emissions come from the
electricity factories.
Also, there is another source for the carbon dioxide emissions that caused by burning the
gasoline for transportations usage. The increase of population caused the demand of buying cars
to increase means that we increasing the usage of fuel. Statistics show that “33% of CO2 is
emitted by our transportations usage. Methane is another extremely type of gases” (EPA, 2011).
In fact, it’s ranking behind carbon dioxide. This becomes when organic matter is broken down
by bacteria under oxygen-starved conditions, methane is produced.
Methane is another gases which emitted by animals. When increasing the amount of the
concentrated livestock production, the level of the methane emissions increases in the
atmosphere. Another type of methane is methane clathrate which it is compound containing large
amounts in the ice crystal structures. When the methane escapes from the arctic seabed, the
global warming rate will increase (Climate Science – David, 2012).
Deforestation is one of the main causes. People cut trees (forests) to use it for production and
making space for population. Studies approve that “forests help to remove and store CO2 from
the atmosphere, and deforestation helps to make CO2 released back to the atmosphere”
(Organization of Deforestation Facts, 2012).
To help solving this problem we have to see what are the harmful sides? And how can global
warming affect us? In fact, there were three questions in my survey about the harmful of global
warming on humans with respect of time. The questions were “how much do think that it will
harm you? When do you think it will start to harm you? How match do you think it will harm the
future generations? Most of them agree that it will harm them personally and will harm the future
generations a lot. However, there are different results in the point of when it will start to be
harmful. Some of them see that it will start to harm before 25 year, and some of the see that it
will start to harm after 50 years from now. In fact, there are a lot of facts approves that global
warming starts to harm us since the 1970’s. As shown by (World Health Organization, 2012) that
“a lot of the major killers are climate sensitive as Diarrhoeal diseases, malnutrition, malaria and
dengue and are expected to worsen as the climate changes”. So, Climate change affects the social
and environmental determinants of health such as clean air, safe drinking water, and sufficient
food.
The final question in my survey was “global warming should be a low, medium, high, or very
high priority for countries’ leaders to look for?” and the survey’s results show that 84.4% of
them gave it a very high priority. In fact, there are global responses to climate change between
countries. As stated by the (Organization of the Royal Society, 2005) that there was a meeting
between countries who are emitted a lot of greenhouse gases to agree with a consider limit for
each country and not to exceed this limit.
Conclusion
In fact, global warming can be worst that it is right now. With knowing the causes of the global
warming which is caused by humans’ activities, we can get a clear idea of the natural and
environment changes in our planet. As effecting the environment can causes changes that will
definitely affects us. However, people in specific regions in our world can be affected more than
the others. Studies show that “People who are living in small island developing states and other
coastal regions, megacities, and mountainous and polar regions are particularly vulnerable”
(World Health Organization, 2012). If it global warming affected by human activities, then why
humans still causing it. Definitely it is because of the race of technology between countries and
the highest rate of population. The race of technology makes humans to emitted large amount of
greenhouse gases in our atmosphere and the increase in population in some countries makes
them to deforestation to free some space for its population.
With the survey questions that have been provided to some employees in my company, result
show that most of them are aware about this issue. Also they are agreeing that it will harm us
more and also it will harm the other generations too. Most of them see that the humans are
responsible and we have to change our activities behavior within the technology race in the
development fields. However, researchers shows out that facts that the increasing of climate
cause a lot of problems and definitely will effect humans, and this phenomena which caused by
humans activates.
On the other side, in these days countries are supporting their innovator in order to innovate
green technologies that help to save the planet and its values. In fact, developer countries have
been started to change its behavior to be green.
All facts show that it caused by humans’ activities and it can be prevented by changing their
behavior. It will be worse more if people didn’t change their activities way. On other hand,
people are making their lives and the other generations lives in risk unless the change their ways.
Finally, a lot of our activities are affecting our earth and us at the same time. In another word,
affecting the environment means affecting our selves. Therefore, if global warming is very
dangerous to our natural and earth because of our activities, then yes we are making our lives in
danger.
