Classwork: EXPLORATORY CHALLENGE
Draw two number lines, one vertical, one horizontal
Label the number lines with numbers 0 ­ 10
On a horizontal number line, do the numbers increase/decrease as you move further to the right of zero?
On a vertical number line, do the numbers increase/decrease as you move farther above zero?
What is the starting position on each number line?
What is the highest number?
Numbers to the right of zero are called positive integers
Numbers to the left of zero are called negative integers
VOCABULARY
