Product Marketing Manager – Ovum
Ovum provides strategic market data, forecasts and advice, enabling our customers to benefit
from business critical insight, seize opportunities and make better decisions faster.
We provide global insight and intelligence on Connectivity & Communications, Entertainment
(Video, Music and Gaming), Finance & Payments and ICT services to both Consumer and Enterprise
markets. We also track the market for the technologies that support their production, distribution
and consumption.
JOB PURPOSE
The Product Marketing Manager’s key objectives are to create and implement business and marketing
strategies that will grow the business through high retention and yield increase from existing customers
and acquisition of new customers.
Lead, influence and work closely with vertical MD, product and content colleagues, sales heads, client
services and marcomms to ensure each understand and implement the strategy and objectives.
The Product Marketing Manager is to act as the “voice of the customer” by gaining a deep understanding
of—and driving—customer engagement with the product, throughout the lifecycle and using this and
broader market insight to develop and implement the marketing strategy and marketing & promotional
mix.

Define and meet strategic business goals and deliver against targeted revenue, profit and market
growth
Identify engage and influence key internal and external stakeholders that are relevant to achieving
the business targets
Identify and define the most commercially attractive target markets and customer segments to
achieve the strategy. Drive the associated core market messaging, sales tools and collateral
Research competitive and alternative offerings in the market. Assess their strengths and
weaknesses, and develop a strategy for winning business from them through promotional
strategies
Articulate and leverage the company’s unique ability to deliver value to the market, to drive key
product strategies and roadmaps (new product offerings or product enhancements)
The ideal candidate will possess the following:




Energetic, creative and collaborative approaches to product marketing and excellent
stakeholder management to board level
Constantly encourage evidence based improvements to strategies and processes through
innovation whilst coaching others within the business to do the same
Influence senior decision-makers to implement change in the business through evidence
based support and intellectual conversation
Take the initiative to solve problems by involving and communicating with teams across the
organisation for the best solution whilst offering clear direction and control


Show a clear understanding of all sides of business issues and ask intelligent questions and
offer personal insight before acting for the good of the team
Clearly express objectives and expectations to team on a regular basis and collects tangible
evidence of success
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

Previous experience in implementing marketing strategies that have provided insight and
understanding of customers, competitors, proposition and pricing

Strong customer focus – able to identify and differentiate between customers, focus on their
needs and engage them through communications activities

Experience of maintaining budgets and assessing costs and benefits

Results-driven – ensure that marketing campaigns fulfil strategic goals and drive the
required business results, persistently seeking to improve business performance, with the
energy and tenacity to address bottlenecks and barriers

Experience of measuring ROI, capturing and applying learning on an ongoing basis

Highly organized, methodical and process-driven, demonstrating a drive to improve internal
processes whenever possible

Experience of campaign management, utilizing all aspects of the promotional mix across all
marketing media

Excellent attention to detail

Data-driven, with strong analytical skills, able to provide complex data analysis and draw
conclusions based on the analysis which inform marketing strategy and tactics

Able to regularly update own learning in technical areas

Able to deal with ambiguity and work in a matrix organization, adaptable and flexible

Prior experience of working in a B2B publishing marketing role will be a great advantage
