You’ll be working within the Data Science team making sure we always deliver high quality analysis and insight to both colleagues and clients. You’ll be able to efficiently clean and check raw datasets and conduct routine checks and quality audits on the data stored in the data warehouse, making sure that the data science team is working on accurate, up to date and verified data. You’ll also help develop new ideas and methodologies to deliver innovation for our client’s transformation of data into insight. You’ll produce statistics and create reports on the data, as well as providing your own opinion and interpretation of data – using a range of marketing skills and experience to back them up, to help the team start to draw their conclusions. You’ll have already applied your analytical skillset in real world marketing situations and be looking to learn more and advance to reach the role of data scientist. As this is a managerial position you’ll also be responsible for leading the day-to-day delivery of projects from the data science team - with support from the Chief Data Scientist. We’re looking for a real people person who can peer review explaining complicated ideas conscientiously and clearly, Although you’ll have good experience of using programmes such as SAS, SPSS, R or Python in your previous roles, you’ll be enthusiastic and want to write your own algorithms in Python. You’ll be able to put your ideas forward in developing our suite of data products, which use state of the art technology that is changing the world of advertising. To ensure that data loaded into the data warehouse is appropriate, accurate and fit for purpose for the analysis being done by the data science team To identify opportunities to automate key tasks and write bespoke code, using Python, to achieve the automation. To offer a quality assurance process on any data set required for analysis by the wider team To analyse any data set; this will include the production of a basic set of repeatable metrics, to spot trends and understand the ‘What? So What? And Now What?’ of what that data means for our clients To be confident applying mathematical techniques, such as producing summary statistics on a dataset or using aggregated data to build predictive mathematical models, To assist in the future development of Whisper and other data products with support from the wider Bloom team To have an opinion on the data insight we produce and be constantly looking for ways to develop this, taking an active interest in how Bloom can continue to be innovative. This will include hands on, unsupervised experience with an appropriate relational database, including a good knowledge of efficient SQL techniques and the ability to design new database systems Experience of using Python and/or R to design bespoke algorithms for data mining and/or analysis and/or science Demonstrable experience of presenting insight to clients, including an ability to present to board level stakeholders Experience of taking clients requirements and building a solution / model which exactly and precisely meets their needs Excellent communication skills to allow you to explain complex ideas to non-technical stakeholders in an easy to understand and uncomplicated way Keen interest in marketing and digital technologies and an understanding of this sector Experience of working in a team Experience of working on self-directed project work, some of which has been novel in nature Self-motivation and skills which help you to be well organized and to confidently work to tight deadlines – balanced by exceptional attention to detail, and a real focus on producing accurate and consistent work Experience of LINUX server administration and/or AWS Experience of development methodologies and languages Experience of Hadoop, Spark and/or a non relational database Experience of Business or Systems Analysis Some experience of account handling or new business/sales roles and be comfortable communicating with clients directly Experience and an understanding of how businesses operate, gained from other areas of business, for example, finance, marketing or sales.
