Develop promotional media communications
7) Provide an accurate definition and explanation of different types of
media/marketing communications available.
There are a few different types of media marketing and they are:
Print Media
Traditional print marketing is a type of communication that you can use in
several different ways. Using billboards is a good way to reach a broad
audience with a simple, direct marketing message. Advertise in newspapers
to reach a large audience at a low cost in specific geographic locations.
Although print media is till prevalent, the Internet is on the rise and is good for
consumers to look through some print-based channels.
TV and Radio
TV and radio are two other types of communication media. Marketing using
TV ads are a bit expensive but it reaches a huge audience. This way you can
put your ads on the channels people watch the most. Using radio is less
expensive than using television but it doesn’t give the visual benefits like
television.
Direct Mail
Direct mail is a form of print media in marketing with marketing messages
getting sent out by postal mail to select groups of people. One of the biggest
benefits of direct mail is it is directly measurable. When using direct mail it
should also contain a call of action at the bottom of the letter in which asks the
reader to do something specific, i.e. Visit websites or place an order. This
gives you the chance to keep track of the percentages of how many people
respond.
Digital Media
Digital media communication is used to promote a company’s products and
services. Using email is a digital communication platform is good way to build
relationships with the customers. Most companies collect email addresses
from customers and then you send them weekly or monthly emails to keep
them up-to-date with updates, relevant information, special deals and
discounts.
Social media marketing is another form of marketing as it deals with social
websites such as Facebook and twitter so that you can interact with the
customers. For example companies create Facebook accounts so that the
customers and sign up and receive new updates and deals.
The other type of marketing is the search engine market (SEM). Most
companies develop ads that appear when the customer is looking for specific
search terms i.e. kind of shoes and colour of shoes. This media type gives a
really high targeting level message to the customers who search for your type
of product and service.

media/marketing communications suitable to promote a new brand of
mobile phone to the defined target audience.
