Senior Director of New Business Development
Specializing in tea, nut butters, and spices, we take our jobs as merchants of flavour seriously. Founded in
1867, G E Barbour Inc. is dedicated to providing great tasting products to customers around the world,
delivered with high quality standards and exceptional customer service.
Our business has been expanding and we have created the position of Director of New Business
Development to focus on growth. We require a key business leader dedicated to shaping new business
development strategies, which will improve the organization’s competitive position and financial
achievements. This position is responsible for increasing market share through customer identification and
acquisition, as well as increasing awareness of the Corporate Brand for target customers. They will define mid
and long term strategic goals, develop the organization’s business development & marketing strategy and
inspire and drive Corporate Brand strategies implementation.
The Role

Develop and direct measurable business development and marketing programs that tie to the
achievement of business expansion goals. Oversee the development of proposals that address
requirements to secure new business.
Provide leadership and creative thinking to the analysis of market trends, and the identification of new
market opportunities.
Work closely with cross functional teams to create and implement processes to; effectively select
potential clients, plan and execute brand and market expansion into new markets or new market
avenues. Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to
increased sales.
Educate the organization and make well informed, ROI driven decisions on future corporate positioning.
Act as an authority and promoter of the Brand, ensuring consistent brand expression through all
business, consumer and cultural touch points, both external and internal.

Achieve maximum volume profit/growth.
Drive Product development activity and innovation for new brand opportunities.
Ensure that “best of class” project management practices are employed to deliver all business
development activity within strategy, budget, and deadline.
Lead the creative development of brand themes that convey the brand point-of-view, and business
targets.
Frequent travel will be required.

Communicate business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution
channels.
Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to increased sales.
Implement marketing and sales directed strategies to enhance competitive position.
Create, negotiate and close commercial agreements. Oversees the development of proposals that
address requirements to secure new business and retain existing business. Forecast and monitor target
progress achievement.
Develop relationships with industry contacts and continuously track industry competitors’ strategies.
Provide market information regarding competitive activity and prospect needs.
Provides management direction, develop plans and evaluate employees for professional growth and
support
Oversee the development of the financial models used in the pursuit and retention of new and existing
business.
Oversee effective communication and coordination with necessary functions within organization to
assure effective onboarding of new accounts.
Oversee development of new business and retention support materials
Cultivates continued customer relationships after contract execution
Where appropriate, provide management direction, development plans and evaluate employees for
professional growth and support
Candidate Requirements

A strategic business executive with proven experience in business development
A successful track record of 7-10 years , delivering programs that meet or exceed corporate revenue
goals, using broad sales/marketing mix
Proven leadership and team building/management skills; ability to provide clear and concise
direction/feedback to external and internal stakeholders as well as the ability to influence others.
Demonstrated project management ability
Creative thinker
Solid communications skills - both written and verbal
Demonstrated Leadership
