Market Segment Manager I – Matrix Packaging Division, Sonoco Products
Location: Hartsville, SC
Summary:
Initiates, organizes and coordinates the marketing activities for one/two business
categories and two/four brand groups in order to develop and maintain strong brand
awareness and maximize short and long term sales volumes and profits. Identify long
term opportunities within the market place and prepare plans to develop, test and launch
new products to exploit them. Prepares implementation programs for comprehensive
advertising and promotional programs. Tracks, measures and monitors performance of
products against marketing metrics. Evaluates and recommends product pricing and
advertising strategies to be agreed by the Marketing Director. Collaborates and
coordinates with various internal and external stakeholders, suppliers, consultants, and
customers.
Primary Responsibilities:
-Develops annual five year global strategic plan, monitors and coordinate execution
-Responsible for pricing, advertising, trade/consumer promotions, packaging, WebEx
programs and maintaining web site, sales ads, and publicity programs
-Responsible for communicating and educating strategy and value proposition for
assigned markets and technology platforms
-Develop global plans to defend current market share and proactively grow business by
identifying new opportunities (markets, customers, regions etc.)
-Collaborate with other segment managers to coordinate potential strategic global
opportunities with specific segments and support solution and sustainability strategy
-Coordinate the effort to drive the development of new technology
-Define strategy regarding materials, customer targets, production costs, and product
pricing
-Develop and maintain strategic relationships with packaging equipment manufacturers.
Provide recommendations to enhance sell systems. Provide field support for
implementation.
-Provide data and analysis on existing technologies, packaging innovations and solutions
-Work closely with Star Account Sales Managers and have a thorough understanding of
the retail and consumer trends impacting market segments.
Preferred Education Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in business, marketing or other related field
MBA desirable
Required Experience Requirements:
Minimum 5 years in marketing or related field
Preferred Experience Requirements:
10 years in Marketing or related field
5-7 years blow molding industry experience
