Position Description College/Division: Student Recruitment and Admissions Faculty/School/Centre: Department/Unit: International Recruitment and Admissions Office Position Title: Direct Marketing Coordinator (International) Classification: ANU Officer Grade 5 Position No: Responsible to: Manager of International Student Recruitment Number of positions that report to this role: N/A Delegation(s) Assigned: D6 PURPOSE STATEMENT: The Direct Marketing Coordinator (International) is responsible for coordinating implementation of the International Recruitment direct marketing plan in collaboration with the University’s externally provided Customer Relationship Management (CRM) provider. The position supports the direct marketing function of the International Student Recruitment and Admissions team and proactively supports the ongoing recruitment cycle through direct mail and direct communication strategies and also works with Admissions to jointly identify key times and messages for conversion campaigns. KEY ACCOUNTABILITY AREAS: Position Dimension & Relationships : The Direct Marketing Coordinator (International) will work closely with the International Recruitment Manager, a broad group of stakeholders, including the International Recruitment and Admissions teams, the Director of Student Recruitment and Admissions, the Student Recruitment and Admissions Project Coordinator, the Marketing Office, College recruitment staff and external staff. This will be based with the International Recruitment and Admission Office and will report to the International Recruitment Manager. This position will play a key role in the production and distribution of effective student recruitment focused direct mail and direct communications, including database manipulation, market segmentation and copywriting. Role Statement: Under the general direction of the Manager of International Student Recruitment, this position will: 1. Work closely with the Manager of International Student Recruitment, the International Recruitment Officers, and the International Admissions Manager to develop and implement international multichannel communications plans to support regional recruitment strategies; and contribute to the review and analysis of international recruitment communications strategies. 2. Development of persuasive copy and communications to market ANU appropriately to target audiences and to convert students to apply/enrol by using extensive database segmentation and data manipulation to provide tailored and targeted campaigns relevant to audiences within each international market. 3. Undertake market analysis, data manipulation, and competitor research to provide evidence-based, advice for tailored direct marketing campaigns relevant to each international market in line with keyrecruitment objectives. 4. Liaise with the Student Recruitment and Admissions Project Coordinator and the external CRM provider, and develop and maintain an ongoing relationship with the Marketing Office, academic Colleges and other internal stakeholders 5. Provide innovative ideas to support recruitment strategy and Direct Marketing solutions. This will include proactive qualitative/ quantitative research on competitor communications and the provision of recommendation on improving the University’s student facing communications in liaison with the ANU Marketing Office. 6. Collaborate with Recruitment Officers and the Marketing Office to provide input and content for relevant digital communications, web-content development, web navigation and other channels designed to engage and ultimately convert customers to applicants and enrolments. 7. Assist the International Recruitment Team and Admissions team with the planning and development of content for print material; this may include prospectuses and course guides. 8. Support other activities as defined by the Manager of International Student Recruitment, in line with the classification of the position; such as events, support for schools and agent visits, partner meetings and other promotional and engagement activities. 9. Other duties as required consistent with the classification of this position and in line with the principle of multiskilling. SELECTION CRITERIA: 1. Degree and/or equivalent experience and proven ability in providing creative communications support within a direct mail/communications/marketing environment and developing and implementing innovative electronic campaigns. Experience of working in international student recruitment will be highly regarded. 2. Demonstrated experience of the development of creative and persuasive written communication with high level interpersonal skills and an ability to consult and liaise with a range of stakeholders. 3. Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills including the ability to plan, evaluate and recommend options to maximize the impact of marketing communications, and interpret and report on market trends. 4. Proven project-coordination skills, including the ability to successfully support the delivery and evaluation of communication projects within tight deadlines while working with a range of stakeholders 5. High attention to detail and proficiency in copywriting, editing and web-content creating skills, including extensive Microsoft Excel skills such as advanced spreadsheet manipulation, duplicate checking and HTML coding skills. 6.
