School of Arts & Humanities: Student Recruitment Committee
1) The Committee shall conduct its business according to the following terms of reference:
a) To manage, co-ordinate and monitor the School’s activities in undergraduate and postgraduate
admissions, student recruitment and marketing to meet the strategic goals of the College.
b) To ensure recruitment and conversion marketing activity is targeted effectively and is strategically
aligned with the School’s academic strategy.
c) To ensure co-ordination of marketing activity between academic departments and Marketing
d) To receive reports from the Centre for Arts & Sciences Admissions on admissions activity, and to work
with CASA management to continually improve admissions processes.
e) To advise the Head of School on entry tariffs and other entry and selection criteria, considering the
School as a whole.
f) To consider and advise on issues raised by the Head of School, Heads of Department/Programme or
Departmental Admissions Tutors relating to student recruitment or admissions. Departmental views
should be presented via the Student Recruitment Lead.
g) To consider and advise on strategic responses to external factors affecting student recruitment.
h) To liaise with the Widening Participation team to promote activity within the School.
i) To ensure dissemination of information across academic departments.
2) Constitution
a) The committee shall normally meet 3 times per year.
b) The committee shall report to the School Executive Board.
c) The committee shall convene additional fora for admissions tutors as required.
3) The membership of the School Education Committee shall normally comprise:
a) Academic Director of Admissions (Chair);
b) Student Recruitment Lead from each departmental area;
c) School Senior Marketing Officer;
d) School Marketing Officer (Committee administrator);
e) Widening Participation Officer for Academic Schools and Partnerships;
f) Head of CASA plus Admissions Managers as appropriate;
g) School Professional Services admissions lead
