Director of Admissions St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and School is seeking a qualified Director of Admissions and Financial Aid. This position functions as the key person responsible for new student recruitment and evaluation of candidates for the admissions department. The Director works closely with all constituents of the school to assure a successful new student recruitment, retention, and admissions operation. Other responsibilities include managing the school website and other social media platforms, managing the admissions and marketing budgets, coordinating applicant testing, tracking student attrition and retention rates, and ability to communicate and collaborate with all members of the school community. Also serves as the Director of Financial Aid for those qualified students needing financial assistance. This position reports directly to the Head of School. Essential Functions • Develops and implements a strategy for admissions, including long- and shortterm enrollment objectives and an annual action plan to meet admission and retention goals for approval by the Head of School. • Identifies enrollment needs, manages reenrollment and retention of current families, and identifies strategic enrollment opportunities. • Develops and implements an admissions process and the annual admissions calendar that support the school’s mission and development goals. • Oversees and refines the admissions process and systems, including outreach to potential families; develops and maintains relationships with applicant families throughout the admissions process and the management of the retention of current families. • Coordinates the creation and review of all admissions-related materials and other media, including the admissions content on the school’s website, to support admission goals and promote the school. • Works with the Communications department to create a communications plan utilizing the most effective media to reach prospective applicants and employ effective marketing. • Establishes strong relationships with potential and current parents, staff, and faculty of the school. • Cultivates and builds on existing relationships with local preschools and feeder schools and community organizations to promote admissions. Supervises admission associate, creates the departmental budget, and works collaboratively as required with other departments in the school, including the Business Office and the Communications Office, as well as the Administrative Team. • Maintains admissions and enrollment statistics and provides regular updates to the Head of School and Board of Trustees on key admissions metrics. • Coordinates and facilitates the financial aid committee process, including developing policies that will support the school’s mission to maintain a socioeconomically diverse population. • Ensures that statistical reports are provided as required. • Plans and participates in recruitment events, including open houses and other outreach opportunities. • Represents St. Mark’s at conferences, fairs, and other gatherings for effective school exposure. Must be adept at both the art and science of admissions, connecting authentically with people and utilizing data effectively to inform admissions activity. Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and partner with a team of people to achieve enrollment goals. Detail oriented, creative and organized, with superior qualitative and quantitative analytical and problem solving skills; Self-directed: grasps school’s vision quickly and builds effective strategies accordingly without significant oversight. Inspirational and effective communicator with excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to build rapport and establish credibility to affect outcomes within the school community and with prospective families. Authentic people skills, resiliency, and a sense of humor. Experience with admissions software. Master’s degree in teaching or education administration preferred.
