20.1 Viruses
Nov. 13th, 2012
1. Bacteriophages are viruses
that attack bacteria
2. Viruses are particles of nucleic
acid, protein and some cases
lipids that can reproduce only by
infecting living cells.
3.A capsid is a virus protein coat
4. A virus gets inside a cell by
binding receptors to its surface.
5. Once inside the viral genes are
expressed. This may lead to the
cells destruction.
6. Like the outlaw the virus takes
control
7. Lytic cycle
-virus
-host bacteria
-viral DNA
-bacterial DNA
Lytic cycle
8. The viral DNA is inserted into
the host cell’s DNA and is copied
each time a cell multiplies
9. They are both RNA viruses.
10.The virus would never
reproduce
They depend on living cells!!!!
