The Solar System inside a football field In this film, Sergio Neuspiller will try to reduce the Solar System so it can fit inside a football field. With the popular Boca Juniors' stadium “La Bombonera”, Sergio will share some comparisons which will leave everyone speechless. The Sun, the central star in our Solar System, will be reduced to the size of a 1-meter diameter ball. If this is so, what will be the size of the planets? During an enjoyable journey, we will place each planet into its orbit throughout the city of Buenos Aires according to the scale we’re using. The main topics in this film are: • The Solar System. • The dimensional proportions of the sun and the planets. • The distance between planets. • The orbits. • Planet Earth. • The moon. • The speed of light. • Solar energy. • The universe and its dimensions. To sum up, Sergio will show us the distance between the planets in our Solar System and we will therefore understand that we need a very wide area of the city in order to make all the planets fit in. With a 1-meter diameter sun, our dear planet Earth will be reduced to a sphere of 0.99 mm and it will be placed on the opposite goal area from the sun. Neptune, the most distant planet, will be placed right beside the obelisk, at the heart of Buenos Aires. The real size scale between space and what we will experience in the film is astonishing.
